Hon. Jacqueline D. Williams, currently serving as Acting Supreme Court Justice for Kings County and previously a distinguished Family Court Judge, has formally begun her campaign for a seat on the Kings County Supreme Court. This campaign marks an important progression in her legal and judicial career, which has spanned nearly 25 years of service to Brooklyn.

A Lifelong Advocate for Brooklyn

Born in California at March Air Force Base while her father served in Vietnam, Williams grew up in Brooklyn, raised in a supportive Panamanian family and community.
Her educational background features Yale University for a history degree emphasizing Caribbean and Latin American Affairs and the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where she edited the African American Law Journal.

Rise from Civil Court to the Supreme Court

Judge Williams got her initial experience as Principal Court Attorney and Senior Court Attorney with Hon. Bernadette Bayne, where she developed strong knowledge of the court system.
Elected to the Civil Court in 2006, she presided over both civil and criminal disputes.
In 2014, Williams transitioned to Kings County Family Court,
where she managed juvenile delinquency and child protection cases, showcasing her dedication to combining justice with humanity.
Since 2015, she has held the position of Acting Supreme Court Justice, earning acclaim for her sound legal reasoning, courtroom skills, and impartial handling of challenging matters.
“Brooklyn means everything to me,” she expressed. “My work from the bench is always influenced by fairness, community respect, and a true sense of justice.”

Community Service and Equal Representation

Judge Williams’s service continues outside the courthouse. She has hosted events such as Black History and Hispanic Heritage Months, and regularly mentors Brooklyn teens through schools and programs.
As a Lions Club member, she has taken part in United Nations programs and stays active via her church and in her role as a Yale alumni interviewer.
“Justice should inspire confidence and encourage the next generation to become community leaders,” she noted.
On the campaign trail, Judge Williams reiterates her promise to uphold integrity, fairness, and compassion, making sure justice is both accessible and visible to all Brooklyn residents.
