Are you a passionate and skilled dancer looking for the opportunity of a lifetime? The Brooklynettes, the official dance team of the Brooklyn Nets, are holding auditions for the 2025-2026 season, and this is your chance to shine! Prepare to showcase your talent, energy, and personality in front of industry leaders and become part of a dynamic team that represents the spirit of Brooklyn.
The auditions will kick off on June 28 at St. Joseph’s College, welcoming dancers 18 and older with the talent and drive to become a Brooklynette. Over four days, you’ll be challenged and inspired by some of the biggest names in the dance world.
Learn From Dance Industry Titans
The audition process will feature choreography from Jonte’ Moaning, the renowned heels choreographer famous for his work with Beyoncé. This is an incredible opportunity to learn from a true master and elevate your performance. Dancers who advance will then have the chance to learn a high-energy hip-hop routine from Celine Edmondson, the Brooklynettes’ assistant coach and resident choreographer, known for her collaborations with Lil Kim, Remy Ma, and appearances on Netflix’s Dance 100.
What the Judges Want: Authenticity and Presence
The auditions will be overseen by Criscia Long, senior director of entertainment at BSE Global, alongside a panel of esteemed judges that includes Fatima Wilson of UTA Talent Agency and choreographers Miles Keeney (RuPaul’s Drag Race) and Neil Schwartz (America’s Got Talent). While technical skill is crucial, the judges are also looking for dancers with a unique blend of charisma, stage presence, and authenticity.
“We’re looking for trained dancers with star quality and the right experience and skills,” Long told Brooklyn Paper. “But beyond that, we want dancers who bring their whole self to performing. Authenticity always wins and is always valued on the Brooklynettes.” This means being confident in your own style and allowing your personality to shine through in your performance.
More Than Just a Dance Team: Representing Brooklyn
The Brooklynettes are more than just a dance team; they are ambassadors for the borough of Brooklyn. From performing at every Nets home game at Barclays Center to appearing at community events and international showcases, these dancers embody the diversity and energy of Brooklyn. Their performances have been featured in The New York Times, The Cut, and New York Post, solidifying their reputation as one of the most versatile and dynamic dance teams in professional sports.
“From performances inspired by the biggest artists to those celebrating our Nets Unite theme nights, which highlight the diverse cultures that make up Brooklyn, the Brooklynettes are uniquely and authentically Brooklyn,” Long added. Being a Brooklynette is about representing the heart and soul of Brooklyn.
